LISA AND JOSH | NJ WEDDINGS | THE PARK SAVOY

I thrive on creating a boutique experience for my clients – personalized attention, guidance on the event details and timeline, encouraging couples to cultivate and grow a lasting, lifetime commitment – for this reason, I like to except only a handful of clients each season.  With the remainder of my time, I second shoot for some amazing wedding photographers. Watching the story unfold and being able to capture it from another perspective just sets my heart on fire!

The first of a handful of beautiful couples I got to work with this season was Lisa and Josh. Surrounded by friends and family – covered with in an overwhelming sense of kinship  – I got to witness a true testimony to marriage, built on a solid foundation of friendship, trust and devotion.

At The Westin Governor Morris in Morristown, NJ, Josh started the day with a personalized gift for each of his groomsmen. After some grateful hugs, a few shots and a whole lot of laughs, the guys got down to business.

But before Josh got dressed, his best man, Joe, handed him a gift from Lisa.

I love that last picture – the crooked smile – you just know he connected with her words and it struck something deep within him.

Josh rocking his inner GQ. These are, by far, my favorite shots to take with the groom!

I think it’s so important to capture the excitement and joy of the guests. Each one was hand selected and significant, it’s a great opportunity for the couple to see and experience the emotions shared by their family and friends.

The toast by Lisa’s dad, Nick, was profound.

At the end of his speech he asked his wife (above) and Josh’s parents to join him. He talked about the richness of marriage, but when there are hardship and trials, keeping God first is the key and that the four people standing in front of them will forever be their rock. Then he asked them to look around, that all those faces looking back, those who have come before them, would also be there to carry them through the tough times. (wish I was poetic enough to do that speech justice!).

There was not one dry eye!

I love this last picture. Since becoming a mom, I’m overwhelmed by the mother-son dance. every. time! (I know my time will come and I will have that first dance with Ezra, my first born child, my son. To have to release him to the love of his life. To no longer be his protector, his comforter. Here come the tears and shortness of breath trying to hold it together! Yeah, I always need a second to get a grip, otherwise it would be ugly!).  This is not the best image I ever took but, for me, it’s powerful! At that very second, they share a moment, produced only in a bond between a mom and her child – the similar expression – it says it all! gaaahhhh

It was truly my honor to witness this union. A marriage forged and protected in love.
